Kitten Edith

Anyone who has followed my art for more than a few years will know I used to have a cat called Edith who was constantly inspiring my art. Sadly she passed away a couple of years ago but I still think of her alot. With this week's theme being 'Kitten' over at The Bear and the Buffalo I couldn't resist but to get out my paints & paint Edith as I knew her, way back in 1994.

Hooves of Fire

Since the end of last year I've been busy working on some designs for a game called 'Hooves of Fire.' It's a fun, interactive horse racing game which can be quite addictive as I've found out! So far I've been drawing background elements as well as designing some of the horse characters which has been really fun. I've posted two of the designs who are Albert Einstallion & The Shopkeeper. The Bear and the Buffalo

Melanie Mathews, Ben Wood and myself have started a weekly drawing challenge where every Friday we take it in turns to suggest something for us all to draw. This week Melanie has suggested 'kittens.' If you're familiar with my work, you'll know this isn't too far out of my comfort zone. At all.
So I picked up a brush and got my gouache out last night and painted this kitten. It seems Louis, my cat, was a heavy influence here.

Happy Tranny

Whenever I have a cold I sound like a tranny. So refer me to as Darren the happy Tranny for the next few days.

Gumby

I used to love Gumby when I was younger. I still have my Gumby & Pokey figurines from when I was a kid, though Pokey had to be replaced as his legs were falling off.
Anyway, here's a quick drawing I did last night.
